Tree Study

This is from a photo I took of an interesting tree in Rockport, MA. Most of the family got together there in late September for a vacation, and I managed a few walking tours of the town (especially the beaches) to gather some raw material for paintings.

This is must first attempt to dissect the tree itself; there’s a lot going on, and I plan to attack it in several different ways to see how best to paint this. This was simple and fun, done at the local City Perk coffee shop this afternoon. Ink drawing, with watercolor washes on Canson Montval watercolor paper. 5.5″ x 8.5″

This is only my second notebook sketch in the last month; work has been really intense and busy.
